DBT On Purpose
Each member on our team was trained in DBT in the context of community mental health. We have provided high-quality treatment to populations experiencing complex and severe mental health concerns. Our values align in that we believe in offering high-quality treatment to anyone in need of DBT. We believe human relationships are healing and that none of us can do it alone. We take responsibility for extending a hand and offering help for those still suffering.
While many treatment options exist, our decision to deliver DBT in a private practice setting is the result of a commitment to excellence, duty, and care. We see a need for delivering DBT in our community and have the skills and passion to deliver it properly. Each member on our team has dedicated years to learning and developing their personal style within DBT, cares deeply about the clients they work with, and has found a larger purpose and makes meaning by providing a service that ultimately helps individuals alleviate suffering and build a life worth living. For us, DBT is not just a treatment, it’s a practice and a way of being.
Guiding Principles
We believe clients are doing the best they can and they need to do better, try harder, and be more motivated to change.
We believe clients want to improve.
While clients may not have caused all of their own problems, we believe they are responsible for solving them.
We recognize the lives of suicidal people are unbearable as they are currently being lived.
Clients must learn new behaviors in all relevant contexts.
Clients cannot fail in therapy
We believe the most caring thing a therapist can do is help clients change in ways that bring them closer to their own ultimate goals.
Clarity, precision, and compassion are of the utmost importance in the conduct of DBT.
The therapeutic relationship is a real relationship between equals.
Principles of behavior are universal, affecting therapists no less than clients.
Therapists treating suicidal individuals need support.
DBT therapists can fail
DBT can fail, even when therapists do not.
